Jessalyn Gilsig is the daughter of an engineer and a writer. She first worked as a voice for a puppet in a National Film Board short at age 12. That was followed by voice-overs, commercials and parts in plays at the Centaur Theatre in Montréal. After graduating from McGill in 1993, Gilsig spent two years at Harvard University’s American Repertory Theater in the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training program before moving to New York City. Among the American Repertory Theatre projects in which she has appeared are The Cherry Orchard, Henry V, The Oresteia, Tartuffe and, The Tempest. She played the role of Terri Schuester in 47 episodes of the TV series, Glee between 2009 and 2015. She plays Holly Barrett in the series Big Shot.
