Jay Silverheels

Jay Silverheels was born Harold Jay Smith and as a young man grew up with most people calling him Harry. Today, if anyone remembers him at all, he is usually remembered for the character he played, Tonto. The close-up of Jay Silverheels was scanned from an original photo from the movie The Cowboy and the Indians and the poster for Drums Across the River, released in 1954, were scanned from originals the Northernstars™ Collection.
