Born in the small town of Tiko in Cameroon, West Africa, when she was just a few years old Dorothy Atabong moved with her family to the city of Limbe, once called Victoria. At Saker Baptist College, an all girls boarding school, she appeared in various plays and became known for her ability to organize musical performances. One Night, an indie film shot in Brooklyn, marked her film debut in a leading role. Dorothy Atabong now makes her home in Toronto and has received rave reviews and awards for productions such as In Darfur, Wedding Band, and August Wilson`s Joe Turner`s Come and Gone. She is pictured above in a publicty still for the 2014 short Sound of Tears, with which she also makes her directorial debut. It was selected to screen at the 2014 Montreal World Film Festival.
