Debra McGrath was born in Toronto and went to Ryerson to study theatre, graduating in 1977. She began her professional career in 1983 when she joined the Second City comedy group as a writer and performer. It was here that she met and eventually married Colin Mochrie in 1989. Not limited to the comedy stage or television, McGrath’s career includes voice-over work in animation, appearances in commercials and in theatre. McGrath is the creator of the Women Fully Clothed comedy troupe, which is made up of Katheryn Greenwood, Robin Duke, Jane Eastwood and Teresa Pavlinek. Eugene Levy is quoted as saying they are “The five funniest women in Canada.”
