Daniel Karasik

In addition to acting, Daniel Karasik is an award-winning playwright. His plays have been seen in Toronto, New York and Germany. He has been a member of playwrights’ units at Tarragon Theatre, Factory Theatre and the Canadian Stage Company, and was one of eight invited playwrights at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s inaugural playwrights’ retreat. His play The Innocents — a hit at the SummerWorks Theatre Festival — was presented in New York by Bridge Theatre Company, and in German translation at the Staatstheater Mainz in Mainz, Germany, as part of their 2011/2012 season. In 2011 his play for children, The Remarkable Flight of Marnie McPhee, was produced by the Carousel Players, touring schools across southern Ontario. In addition to being a playwright, Karasik also writes essays, poetry, and fiction. His books include two volumes of plays published by Playwrights Canada Press, a poetry collection with Cormorant Books, and a short story collection forthcoming in 2017 from Guernica Editions.
