Claire Wilcox played the title character in Norman Jewison’s debut feature film 40 Pounds of Trouble. Her character’s name was Penelope ‘Penny’ Piper, a child left left behind in a casino by her gambling father. Tony Curtis played casino manager Steve McCluskey and Suzanne Pleshette played his club singer and the love interest. Having the “40 pounds of trouble” in the casino jeopardizes its gaming licence. Wilcox’s career lasted about 10 years from 1961 to 1972 and was mainly on television.
