Christopher Heyerdahl is half Norwegian and half Scottish. His father was a cousin to the late explorer and author Thor Heyerdahl. A gifted hockey player, he was once asked to play for the Ottawa Senators but decided to decline the offer. Mostly known for his sci-fi roles, Heyerdahl is also a stage actor and has played such roles as Gandalf in the Carousel Players production of The Hobbit, to appearances in Twelfth Night, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Love’s Labour Lost, and The Grand Inquisitor at the Stratford Festival, to name just a few credits from his stage career. He played the role of a vampire named Marcus who is part of a powerful Italian family called the Volturi in the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga series of films. In 2015, Heyerdahl hosted the Leo Awards gala ceremony.
