Cameron Bancroft was born in Winnipeg but grew up in Vancouver. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles to attend the California Institute of the Arts where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Theater. During summer breaks from Cal Art, he would return to Canada to play the character of Graham Blake for 6 seasons on the original television series The Beachcombers. Other original Beachcombers include: Bruno Gerussi, Robert Clothier and Rae Brown.
