Béatrice Picard played the title role of Aline St-Louis in the Alliance Vivafilm feature, Ma tante Aline. When she was just 17 years old she left home to study drama at the Sorbonne in Paris. She appeared on stage with all of the major Québec theatre comanies. With a career dating back more than 60 years, Picard is often referred to reverently as “the grand dame” of Québec cinema. She became her career in radio drama in the late 1940s and made her first television appearance in 1952 in the TV drama La lettre from Marcel Dubé. Three years later, she won one of the most significant roles in the history of the small screen, the Angelina Desmarais in Le survenant. In addition to her work in front of the cameras, she is the voice of Marge in the French language version of the long-running TV series, Les Simpsons as well as in the 2007 Simpsons movie. Her father was a magician and projectionist named Arthur Picard and her mother was Beatrice Granger. Her real name is Beatrice Destroismaisons and she can trace her family back to the mid-1600s. Béatrice Picard became a Member of the Order of Canada in 1988 and was made an Officer of the National Order of Quebec in 2012.
