Arnie Achtman

Arnie Achtman worked as a store clerk, a short-order cook, a dance studio caretaker, an independent performance artist and as an actor. His first TV role was an appearance on an episode of the King of Kensignton in 1977, which starred Al Waxman and Fiona Reid. In addition to his acting, he was also a teacher of Expressive Writing and in February of 1988 he began cohosting a radio program on Toronto’s CKLN-FM (88.1) that featured new writers from different Toronto communities. Two months before his death from lung cancer, Achtman celebrated the publication of This is What Happened, a collection written by a group of his former George Brown students who continued to meet as the Friday Night Writers Group.
