Andy Jones has been a professional writer and actor for over thirty years. He has written five critically acclaimed one-man comedy shows: Out of the Bin, Still Alive, King O’ Fun, To The Wall, and An Evening with Uncle Val. To The Wall won four-star reviews in London, Edmonton and Toronto, and was made into a television performance for CBC’s Opening Night Series, which earned him a Gemini award nomination. A multi-talented actor and one of the groundbreaking comedy troupe CODCO on stage and television, Jones worked with CODCO in its theatrical form from 1974 to 1976 and in its television format from 1986 to 1991. He has taken five one-man comedy shows across Canada as well as to Ireland and the UK. His most recent one-man show “To The Wall” garnered four-star reviews in London, Edmonton and Toronto, and was made into a television performance for CBC’s Opening Night Series, which earned a Gemini award nomination. In all his work has been recognized with five Gemeini nominations, so far, along with two Emmy nominations and two genie nominations. He has won two Gemini awards, been elected to the Newfoundland Arts Council Hall of Honour, given the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council’s Award of Excellence, and the ACTRA Award of Excellence for Lifetime Achievement.
