Andrée Lachappele began acting when she was still in school. She first worked as a teacher but turned to acting in the 1950s. She was named to the Order of Canada in 1985 and a “chevalier” in L’ordre national du Québec in 1998. Diagnosed with cancer, Lachapelle sought medical assistance in bringing her long life to an end, dying on November 21, 2019, a week and a day after her 88th birthday on November 13th.
