Alexander Ludwig

Alexander Ludwig played the role of Cato in The Hunger Games. Before he was cast as the brutal District 2 tribute Cato in The Hunger Games, the 19-year-old actor was considered for another role: good-natured Peeta from District 11. It was the film’s director, Gary Ross, who thought Ludwig was better for the role of Cato and handed him a script asking him to read the part cold without any chance to get familiar with the character. Ross liked what he heard and saw. Ludwig was happy to make the switch saying his favorite thing about his role as Cato was “playing the bad ass and getting to be very evil.” The film Recon was shot in British Columbia and adapted from the critically acclaimed New York Times best-seller “Peace” by author Richard Bauschand, based on a true World War II event. Ludwig is pictured in his role of Bjorn Lothbrok in 67 episodes of the series Vikings between 2014 and 2020.
