Oscars® 2024 – ReCap
by Staff Editors
(March 11, 2024 – Toronto,ON) As has happened in the past, Canada went into the Academy Awards with lots of promise, including nominations for Ryan Gosling for Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role for his role as Ken in Barbie, the late Robbie Robertson for Original Score for his work on Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Celine Song was nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for Past Lives, Toronto filmmaker Nisha Pahuja landed a Best Documentary Feature nomination for To Kill a Tiger, and Québec director Vincent René-Lortie’s short Invincible was in the Best Dramatic Short category. But it was Nova Scotia filmmaker Ben Proudfoot and co-director Kris Bowers who won the only Academy Award for Canada last night for their short The Last Repair Shop.
Congratulations from everyone at Northernstars.ca. Read more about award-winning filmmaker Ben Proudfoot.
