Sugar Daddy CFF Winner

(April 19, 2021, Toronto, ON) – The Canadian Film Fest (CFF) wrapped its three-weekend run on Super Channel Fuse, with the festival’s award winners announced during the broadcast on Saturday of the closing night film Range Roads. Directed by Wendy Morgan, Sugar Daddy took home four awards including Best Feature, Best Music, Best Performance, and the DGC Ontario Best Director award. Andrew Chung’s White Elephant took home the ReTAKE Furniture Rental Best Set Design award and the Jury Award for Best Ensemble; with the William F. White Reel Canadian Indie award going to Events Transpiring Before, During, and After a High School Basketball Game, directed by Ted Stenson.
“We had such a strong pool of talent and films this year, and we’re honoured to celebrate the teams behind each one as each of these films showcases aspects of Canada and Canadian talent in such different and beautiful ways. How better to celebrate Canadian films than to showcase them to viewers across the country which we were thrilled to be able to do with our first-class partners at Super Channel,” said Ashleigh Rains, Festival Director, Canadian Film Fest.

The partnership between Super Channel and the Canadian Film Fest brought the virtual edition of the Festival to Super Channel subscribers across Canada for the second year, as CFF also celebrated its 15th edition.

This year’s Features jury was composed of filmmaker Albert Shin, actor/producer Ana Golja, and filmmaker Steve Markle (CFF 2020 Best Feature Winner).

Best Director – Katerine Martineau for Girls Shouldn’t Walk Alone at Night
Best Performance, Female – Joanie Martel for Moon
Best Performance, Male – Éric Bernier for Mister Cachemire

Best Screenplay – Samuel Cartin for Mister Cachemire
This year’s Shorts jury was composed of writer/director/actor Madeleine Sims-Fewer, actor Jess Salgueiro, and actor/director/writer Dan Ambramovici (CFF 2020 Best Short Winner).
