Greg Malone Honoured by ACTRA

(September 11, 2015 – St. John’s NL) Well known actor Greg Malone will be given the ACTRA Newfoundland Award of Excellence this evening. Usually remembered for his appearances on the CODCO television series and specifically for his impersonations of Barbara Frum, Jean Chrétien and Queen Elizabeth II. In addition to his acting career, Malone also wrote 43 Wonderful Grand Band shows in which he also appeared, a number of CBC television shows, including The Root Seller and The S and M Comic Book, and more recently had a recurring guest role on Republic of Doyle.

“ACTRA Newfoundland is deeply honoured to be presenting this award to Greg,” said ACTRA Newfoundland President Amy House. “His legacy is one that is not only of national renown but also deeply resonates with us as his fellow Newfoundlanders.”

His film roles include The Adventure of Faustus Bidgood, The Untold Story of the Suffragists of Newfoundland and Rare Birds. Malone has received numerous awards, including: The Earle Grey Award; 10 Gemini Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award; Memorial University’s Honorary doctor of letters degree; and a Queen’s Jubilee Medal.

The naming of Greg Malone as recipient of this year`s Award of Excellence is part of the celebrations recognizing ACTRA Newfoundland`s 50th anniversary. A ceremony will be held in St. John`s this evening.
