Meryam Joobeur

Meryam Joobeur believes in the transformative power of storytelling and hopes that her films can capture the beauty complexity and universal nature of the human condition. Her short films Gods Weeds and Revolutions (2012) and Born in the Maelstrom (2017) screened internationally. Her Oscar nominated 2018 short Brotherhood screened at 150 festivals and won 75 international prizes. Who Do I Belong To is her first feature film. In late January 2024 it was announced that Who Do I Belong To had been selected in Official Competition at the 75th Berlinale. In late October, 2024, the Windsor International Film Festival announced that Who Do I Belong To  was the winner of the festival’s prestigious WIFF Prize in Canadian Film.
