Torill Kove

bTborill Kove was born and raised in Norway but moved to Canada She spent several years finishing her formal education and then she worked in urban planning A childhood hobby of drawing and sketching was the start for her interest in animation which led to her going back to school to study animation at Montrals Concordia University She won the Kodak Award for her quirky films iAll You Can Eat Fallen Angeli and iSquash and Stretchi Her professional career began at the National Film Board of Canada NFB where she worked on a series of 18 short films by director Alison Burns all titled Multiple Choices but each having a different focus on a different topic The first professional film Kove wrote directed and animated was the 11minutei My Grandmother Ironed the Kings Shirtsi which was an NFB coproduction with Studio Magica of Oslo It won numerous international awards and was nominated for an Academy Award Sometime in there she also found time to illustrate three childrens books iThe Danish Poeti Torills latest film is an animated short about lifes peculiar coincidences Narrated by Liv Ullmann it was given an Oscar for Best Animated Short in 2007 Her 2014 short emMe and My Moultonem received an Oscar nomination in January of 2015 bringing the National Film Board of Canadas total to a remarkable 73 nominations The short won a 2015 Canadian Screen Award and Kove is pictured above with the award with Executive Producer Michael Fukushimabrbrbr
