David Cronenberg was given a Best Director Genie in 2003 for his film Spider. His 2005 film A History of Violence received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for writer Josh Olson. Cronenberg received France’s Légion d’honneur on April 1st 2009. It is France’s oldest and highest military and civilian distinction. He is pictured with his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. His recently announced 2023 project The Shrouds features Vincent Cassel as Karsh, a man who invents a device that lets people watch their buried loved ones decompose.
