Kay Hawtrey began life as Katharine Mary Craven Hawtrey and became Katharine Mary Craven Clark when she married English actor John Clark in 1956, a marriage that ended in 1967. She began her career at Toronto’s Hart House Theatre and then went to England for a year’s engagement with the Embassy Theatre in London. She played Mrs. Lutz in 15 episodes of The Great Detective, which starred Douglas Campbell in the title role. Always credited on screen and stage as Kay Hawtrey, she began her career in front of the cameras during the so-called Golden Age of Television, the 1950s. We list those early credits with the titles of individual productions and indicate the series title after the year of broadcast.
