Hamza Haq was born in Saudi Arabia and moved to Canada with his family when he was nine years old. He began his career on camera in the 2011 short film Peculiar Mrs Perkins. His role as Bashir Hamed in the series Transplant (he appeared in all 49 episodes) brought Canadian Screen Awards for Best actor, drama series in 2021, 2022, and 2023. He is pictured at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards having received a nomination for Best Performance in a Guest Role in a Drama Series for an appearance on This Life.
