Rup (Rupinder) Magon was born and raised in Montreal, and grew up in a practicing and religious Sikh family. He is a highly admired musician and the founder of the fusion music group JoSH. He is the first Canadian Sikh to win both the MTV India and MTV Pakistan Awards. JoSH recorded the title track for the film Breakaway, in which Rup Magon also had a role.
