Tom Scholte graduated with a BFA in acting from the University of British Columbia before moving to professional stages in both Vancouver and Toronto. He returned to UBC for a Master`s degree in directing and later formed “Theatreshop” where he produced, directed, and appeared in Judith Thompson’s The Crackwalker a role that brought his second Jessie nomination. He made his big screen debut in 1995 with the lead role in Bruce Sweeney’s indie hit, Live Bait, which earned him his first Best Actor nomination at the inaugural Leo Awards. He received his second nomination in 1999 for his role in Sweeney’s follow-up feature, Dirty. Sweeney turned to Scholte again to take the lead in 2001’s Last Wedding. In addition to his acting career Tom Scholte also taught acting for the stage and screen at UBC, Vancouver Film School, and the Lyric School of Acting.
