Born in Wrexham, North Wales, Adrian Holmes lived in both Liverpool and Chester and lived briefly in Barbados. He moved to Vancouver just before his 5th birthday where he grew up and was introduced to the arts. The eldest of three boys, Holmes enjoyed drawing and performing, doing various impersonations including Michael Jackson who was a huge inspiration for him growing up. Holmes notes that he never chose to be an actor –rather acting chose him. Being somewhat shy growing up, performing became therapeutic for the budding actor, allowing him to come out of his shell and grow increasingly confident through various characters. In Jr. High School Holmes’ drama class wrote a play for a local drama festival called The Challenge. The play was awarded Outstanding Junior Play and Holmes was awarded Outstanding Junior Actor. From that moment on he was hooked. He continued to perform in stage productions throughout high school and college, and he studied his craft in Vancouver with world-renowned coach Larry Moss. He also studied in New York City at Black Nexxus Inc. in the Times Square Arts Center. In 2004, Holmes received a Canadian Leo Award nomination for Best Guest Performance, for his work in the series The Collector. He is pictured with his 2017 Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance By An Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role for his work as Nick Barron on the series 19-2.
