William Lanctot Couture is 17-years-old and the star player of a local hockey team. A few weeks before Christmas 2009 he goes into a slump. Angry that his coach has criticized him for his lack of team spirit, he`s also down in the dumps because his parents seem to have so little time for him. His father is a filmmaker totally engrossed in the making of a documentary about the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens, a real event that took place on December 4, 2009. William`s mother, Michelle, is a nurse, deeply affected by one of her young patients, Daniel Delage, who at just 10 is awaiting a kidney transplant. Daniel, the eldest child in a family of 6 kids, has been rushed to Montreal’s Sainte-Justine Children’s Hospital, which happens to be the hospital supported by the beloved Canadiens hockey club. As Maurie Alioff wrote for Northernstars, “Like almost everyone else in the movie, Daniel is obsessed with the Canadiens, and in one wannabe Spielbergian blowout scene, the hockey cards he’s playing with drift into the air and magnify like software icons on a Mac desktop.” William gets to meet Daniel, thanks to his mother, and most of the team show up in his heart-warming family saga released on the Hab’s 100 anniversary.
