Domee Shi who moved with her family to Toronto Ontario when she was two and is a storyboard artist writer and director at renowned animation studio Pixar a division of the Disney empire It has been suggested that her 2018 short emBaoem might be the weirdest thing yet produced at Pixar Thats because its the story of a woman and the dumpling she raises as her son after it comes unexpectedly to life Shi grew up in Toronto and studied animation at Sheridan College before becoming a Pixar storyboard artist emBaoem won a 2019 Academy Award in the Best Animated Short Film category Shi also worked on the storyboards for emIncredibles 2em and emToy Story 4em and is the first woman in Pixars 32year history to direct a short film at the studio A longer project is in the planing stages but no details of that project are yet available We list her credits as a Director firstbrbrbr
