CEDRIC SMITH
b. 1943 in Bournemouth, England

Cedric Smith ended up in Canada because when he was about 10 years old his father decided to move here instead of New Zealand. He had worked hard as a window in England, and then in an abattoir in Kitchener, Ontario, and so Cedric grew up determined to avoid that kind of future. In 1961, he dropped out of high school to become a fulltime folk singer. He played and sang with the legendary Canadian group, Perth County Conspiracy.
